6 MAY: NORTHERN SOUL MOTOWN SPECIAL! And we are rolling on through to midnight!

It’s the Hip City Northern Soul Motown spectacular! There’s a special event going on in London on 6 May, so we’ve decided to do something special here in beautiful Somerset, too. There are more records from the Motown stable (Tamla, VIP, Gordy etc…) played on the Northern Soul scene than any other. And the Motown style, emulated by a zillion other artists and labels, is what brought Northern Soul into being. So we’ll be celebrating by spinning the records that made Motown’s name and the ones that the Northern Soul scene rescued from obscurity and made famous – hundreds of irresistible, danceable soul sounds by legendary artists including Marvin Gaye, Temptations, Kim Weston, Four Tops, Tammi Terrell, Smokey Robinson/the Miracles, Edwin Starr, Marvelettes, Frank Wilson, Contours, Diana Ross/the Supremes, Jimmy Ruffin, Martha Reeves/the Vandellas, Mary Wells, Junior Walker/the All Stars, Earl van Dyke, Velvelettes, David Ruffin, Gladys Knight/the Pips, R Dean Taylor and many more… Come on down to Art Bank and give yourself a right royal treat – five hours of the most glorious, uplifting music ever made!
