An Exhibition by: Calin Kyms

I am a Kenyan by birth. Being brought up in an environment that wasn’t artistically supportive, my journey as an artist wasn’t easy.

Along the way, I’ve been lost in a world of music and art.

My theme of dark art was brought about by two factors:

1) A personal love of dark photos and art. I feel a deep connection in dark and lonely places. Originally, this emerged from a deep depression I experienced back in high school.

2) Beauty of The Arts. Being a hard rock and goth lover, I find beauty in dark photos and arts.

In terms of medium used, I’m flexible, though prefer the originality, and appreciate the simplicity, of day-to-day items such as pencils, charcoal, and paper. In some of my works, I use canvas. I love these mediums for the level of detail they’re able to highlight.
