Donald Swanepoel aka Super Deluxe 3000 is a DJ and vinyl collector from Cape Town, South Africa. He’s been DJing and collecting records since the year South Africa transitioned from the brutal system of apartheid to becoming a free and democratic country. Amandla!

“I love wading through rare and mostly undiscovered music on vinyl to find lost gems from the 70s and 80s. South Africa has a long and rich tradition of creating exciting new forms of dance music – from kwela, jive, mbaqanga (that inspired most of the Graceland album), Cape jazz to synth-infused bubblegum in the 80s, kwaito in the 90s and most recently gcom and amapiano that has been taking club dance floors by storm. I enjoy nothing more than taking people on a musical journey through this rich landscape and to have them discover and move to songs and stories that are too good to be forgotten”

In Cape Town he is known for being one half of The Wedding DJs, a duo hosting 80s and 90s club nights from Long Street to Mofolo Village. He collects mainly South African rare groove dance music on vinyl and is currently based in London, Peckham.

Doors open at 7pm. Free entry (donations welcome).
